Description: The Development Associate/Office Assistant is an important member of the TOH team responsible for providing primarily development, but also general administrative, support. The Development Associate/Office Assistant works closely with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees to assist in the proper execution of Trees of Hope special events, as well as the cultivation of current and potential donors, and maintaining satisfaction with all donors as it relates to their benefits and recognition received throughout the year. This position is focused on providing administrative support for special events, including but not limited to the annual holiday gala, Mother’s Day fundraiser, and Spring Guild luncheon, as well as the semi-annual shoe event. In addition to special event support, this position also has the responsibility for diverse communication strategies with donors and development related volunteers to maintain donor relations, donor cultivation, recognition and stewardship programs, including but not limited to written, electronic and online mediums. This position consists of: assisting in planning and execution of special events and projects; accurate gift entry; timely gift acknowledgement; maintaining donor records into donor management software; grant research and preparation; calendaring important deadlines (grant, media, etc.); monitoring and assisting volunteers with fundraising and other activities; maintaining social media pages; creating press releases and other media contacts as needed; website maintenance; preparing materials/reports for meetings and events; arranging all preparations for monthly board meetings; performing mail merges; processing mail and preparation of letters; and all other duties as assigned. Skills: At least two years of experience in planning/executing special events and working in a development role. Bachelors degree preferred. MUST be able to work extended hours and weekends during gala season.
