Description: The Communications and Development Manager is essential to the success of the organization and will spearhead development and communication efforts as The Women’s Resource continues to grow. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager of Communications and Development will work collaboratively with leadership to develop and implement communication strategies, cultivate donors and media relations, and oversee fundraising efforts to broaden the impact of our mission. Development • Develop and implement a comprehensive written annual resource development plan with strategies for donors and prospects in each constituent group including: individuals, Young Professionals, corporations, foundations, community partners, and volunteers. • Manage the direct mail and on-line giving programs creating unique messaging targeted to segmented groups. • Conduct research, prospecting, and application to multiple donor sources. • Provide structure and process for moving donors through a meaningful cycle of giving. • Oversee the planning, organization, and execution of our Annual Spring Luncheon with 500+ guest. • Serve as staff liaison to the Young Professionals group providing structure and guidance to the YP leadership. • Serve as staff liaison to the Development Committee. • Secure in-kind donations and services to support the work of the organization and work with community partners hosting event on our behalf. Communications • Oversee and direct all media relations, social media communications, and media productions. Write press releases and media alerts. • Develop and maintain media contact with area media outlets. • Serve as editor and content manager for website and social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin. • Develop written content for external and internal audiences, including direct mail solicitations, foundation proposals, messages from the Executive Director, e-newsletter, blogs, ect.
Skills: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field Experience: Minimum of two years in development and/or communications field Proven track record of fundraising success Experience managing campaigns and events of 500+ attendees Working knowledge of development and communication best practices Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills Extreme tact and discretion, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence Ability to analyze conceptual and quantitative information Proven knowledge of AP style, social media, and brand awareness strategies Demonstrated understanding of graphic design principles and ability to create materials Strong planner and problem solver with ability to manage multiple priorities Computer Skills: Highly skilled in MS Office – Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint Proficient in CRM computer systems managing donors and/or volunteers Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Content Management Systems, and preferably HTML
